For sale is a wonderful example of the cast iron “Stump Speaker” mechanical bank. Patented in1884 by Chas. Shepard & Peter Adams and manufactured by Shepard Hardware Company thereafter. Measures approximately 10″ tall x 5″ wide x. 4 deep and it is in excellent condition for a piece this old. T has some play wear and spots of paint loss here and there, but it still retains. 80%+ of its original finishes, and the paint is still quite vibrant. Additionally, it has the original coin trap and key, and the locking mechanism opens and closes smoothly. To operate, place a coin in the Stump Speaker’s hand, press the button on the base, and he will lower his hand and drop the coin into the satchel while moving his jaw as if to say Thank you. Please check the photos as they are an integral part of the description and provide the best overall picture of condition.
